Mid Summer saw Villa del Vento host our 3rd wedding.

It began with a cocktail party in the garden. The ceremony was an informal event performed after the guests had mingled and supped for an hour. After a toast and a few more cocktails and canapés everyone moved to the barnyard for a more relaxed BBQ dinner. This was followed by dancing to a live band.

As some of the guests were from out of town we all thought it would be perfect for some to bring tents and campers and set up in the paddock. Alex had the idea of building a little glamping hut for the couple, so that's what he did.

All we need now is a bathroom hut and we will be able to invite overnight guests on a regular basis, once Covid calms down of course!

Gosh Covid! What a mess it has made for so many people. With so many stops and starts, postponements and cancellations, we decided to put our functions and tea parties on hold at least until next Spring. Of course when I started transforming Villa del Vento into a venue I could never have imagined the turmoil that was to come. Hospitality is a tough business to be in at the moment so the feeling is to hunker down and work 'behind the scenes'. Hopefully this caterpillar will emerge as a gorgeous vintage butterfly when the time is right.

Cake orders have also slowed down with less gatherings calling for extra-special cakes but here are a few from this Summer including three Christmas cakes.
